Bridget Kohls, CT
Seeking counseling is a monumental and brave step toward overcoming life’s obstacles. Everyone faces challenges, transitions, and life changes that can be difficult to process without proper support. My goal as a counselor is to create a safe place where you feel understood and heard. I approach counseling with a nonjudgmental, trauma-informed, and multicultural approach. I am here to listen to your story and provide a space where you can learn and grow at your own pace.
I earned my BA in Music Education from Ohio University and am pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I hold a Counselor Trainee licensure, where I will eventually obtain my LPC license after the completion of my Master’s program. I have completed training in DBT, CBT, ERP, and the Gottman Method. I intend to complete EMDR training to aid clients to safely overcome trauma.
My specialty interests include anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, depression, and trauma. Many mental health disorders are rooted in trauma, and I have a strong, trauma-informed approach that allows clients to have a safe place to process their experiences. I am passionate about working with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community, various multicultural backgrounds, victims of domestic violence, couples counseling, and those who have experienced stressful life transitions or chronic stress. As your counselor, I will advocate for you not only in the therapy session but outside of the sessions.
I am privileged to support anyone through their counseling journey to find a sense of peace in their life. Counseling provides tools to emotionally regulate, cope, and seek comfort through life’s greatest challenges.
