Jeff Sustarsic, LPCC-S, NCC

I think of counseling as collaborative, where I am able to act as mirror and consultant. I work to highlight your strengths and positive aspects, while gently pointing out certain aspects of thoughts and/or behaviors that might be contributing to your reasons for coming to counseling. And always, I hope to foster a safe, nonjudgmental environment.

I primarily work with adults and adolescents with some experience with children. I earned my B.S. in Psychology from John Carroll University and earned a M.Ed. from Cleveland State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am also working towards a Ph.D. at Kent State University in Counselor Education and Supervision. I hold a terminal license in the State of Ohio, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Training Supervision Designation (LPCC-S), and am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). My other employment includes being one of the 24-hour clinical supervisors for the Cuyahoga County suicide and psychiatric crisis team (the Mobile Crisis Team), while also having past experience working in private practice as well as former volunteer experiences with the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (hotline service advocate) and American Red Cross (disaster mental health worker).

You’re here! That’s fantastic! Even if this is the result of a quick Google search, it’s tremendous that you’re here and are perhaps taking the first steps towards wellness. I know it can be scary, especially if you’ve had bad experiences in counseling in the past. My hope is that you reach out, whether it be me or someone else, and I hope you remember that help is always out there.
