Megan Long, MSSA, LISW-S
I believe we are all constantly evolving and as your therapist I want to co-create space in which you feel safe enough to explore those growth edges. I will always root for and celebrate your growth, ensuring you have the tools you need to feel regulated in your body and empowered to reach your goals. You can expect to be met with a grounded sense of compassion and non-judgment. I am a queer therapist and center trauma-informed, antiracist and anti-oppressive values in my work. I am aligned with and open to working with non-monogamous and alternative relationship styles and orientations.
I earned my BA in Psychology from Ithaca College and MSSA (equivalent to a Master of Social Work) from Case Western Reserve University. I am trained in EMDR and often use mindfulness and other body-based relaxation techniques in my work with clients. I use CBT, DBT and IFS skills to challenge old beliefs, cope with challenging emotions and understand yourself in a new way. My knowledge of trauma responses and the neurobiology of trauma can help us demystify the ways our bodies try to keep us safe after experiencing trauma.
Over the past decade I have worked with adults experiencing anxiety and mood disorders, personality disorders, neurodivergence and trauma related symptoms, as well as folks who may be struggling with life transitions or identity related concerns. Many clients who tend to find me are self-identified intelluctualizers, perfectionists or people pleasers looking to break out of old patterns in order to move into a place of self-acceptance.
When I am not working, I love to spend time with my loved ones and pets, tend to my 50ish houseplants, cycle through various hobbies, travel and attend concerts. I am grateful you are here and am looking forward to helping you in this next phase of your journey
